Mobile devices and subscribers vs population

As we announced beginning of October 2014, the global penetration rate of mobile devices finally reached the mark of 100% of the world population. We expect this rate to continue on the same trend to reach 130% of the world population by 2020 though the growth rate is slower since 2012. We added to our report the trend excluding M2M allowing noticing that M2M and wearable devices continue being high contributors to this trend. However, growth coming from population subscribing to a mobile network should not be underrated, as nearly half of the world population still is not a mobile subscriber. Compared against global population, mobile subscribers will go from 50% in 2014 to nearly 60% in 2020. Those elements will allow the average number of mobile devices per subscriber to reach 2.2 in 2020 from 2.0 in 2014.
